LexNZ Editorial
Every item on LexNZ Legislative Watch is reviewed and verified by the LexNZ Editorial Team before it appears on the public site. We are the people behind the byline on each tracker item.
What we do
We monitor New Zealand's official channels — beehive.govt.nz, parliament.nz, legislation.govt.nz, the NZ Gazette, and the official press releases of every parliamentary party — and we publish a structured, plain-English record of every verifiable change.
For each item we publish: a primary-source link, a status badge, the responsible minister or sponsor, effective dates, the legal mechanism, and the people who feel it. Nothing speculative, nothing partisan, nothing without a checkable source.
How we verify
- An automated pipeline reads NZ Government sources and proposes a draft.
- The editorial team reviews each draft, cross-checks the primary source, fixes any classification or party-attribution error, and either approves, edits, or rejects.
- Items appear publicly only after a human editor approves them. Anything still under review has
verified=falseand stays hidden. - Every edit is logged — who, when, what changed — and the original automated draft is preserved for audit.
Editorial principles
- Primary source only. We cite the originating government channel; news commentary is a signal, never the source.
- Neutral voice. No endorsement, no prediction, no opinion.
- Plain English. Every Impact Panel answers six concrete questions a non-lawyer can act on.
- Open corrections. Tell us we got something wrong and we'll fix it on record, with the correction logged publicly.
